GCSE Photosynthesis Experiments and Coursework

Welcome to our selection of experiments concerning photosynthesis. Generally, these are concerned with placing Canadian Pondweed, Elodea or a similar plant in test tube, and monitoring the amount of gas produced over a period time. This gas in the dependent variable measured. The independent variables are usually such factors as heat, light intensity and distance from the light source.

How light intensity affects the rate of photosynthesis
(User Rating: 7.44 | Length: 8.6 Pages)
How light intensity affects the rate of photosynthesis The aim of my experiment was to determine whether intensity of light would affect the rate of photosynthesis in a plant. To do this, I placed a piece of Canadian pondweed in varying light intensities, and observed the amount of oxygen being giv ...

Investigation into the factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis in Elodea Investigation into the factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis in Elodea Introduction Photosynthesis is the chemical process, which takes place in every green plant to produce food in the form of glucose. Plants ...

Light Intensity and Photosynthesis Biology Coursework Aim The aim of my experiment was to determine whether or not the intensity of light would affect the rate of photosynthesis in a plant. To do this, I placed a piece of Canadian pondweed in varying light intensities, and observed the amount of ox ...

Other factors that affect the rate of growth of the maize plant…
(User Rating: 1.00 | Length: 0.3 Pages)
Other factors that affect the rate of growth of the maize plant… ` Another factor that affects the rate of growth of the maize plant is the plants accessibility to sunlight. In areas where the hedges or trees were growing too close to the maize plant and shielding the plant from the sunlight, ...

Photosynthesis
(User Rating: 7.17 | Length: 4.5 Pages)
Photosynthesis Photosynthesis is a very important process in nature. It is the production of energy in the form of glucose involving water from the soil, carbon dioxide from the air and light energy. It takes place in all green plants, which use the green chlorophyll, held in chloroplasts in the le ...

photosynthesis PHOTOSYNTHSIS INFORMATION: The Nature of Light Light behaves both as a wave phenomenon and as discrete particles of energy called photons. If we look at light as a wave phenomenon, we can assign it a wavelength (the distance from one peak of the wave to the next) and an amplitude (th ...

Photosynthesis
(User Rating: 8.23 | Length: 8.1 Pages)
Photosynthesis Aim: To investigate a factor that affects the rate of photosynthesis. Outline: A piece of pondweed will be cut and placed into a beaker containing water and sodium hydrogen carbonate. A lamp will be shined on to the pondweed and the amount of bubbles released from the plant will be c ...

Photosynthesis Photosynthesis to find effects of distance of a light source from pond weed has on the amount of oxygen produced Photosynthesis All green plants need to be able to make their own food. They do this by a process called photosynthesis. For photosynthesis to occur they need sun ...

Rate of Photosynthesis
(User Rating: 5.50 | Length: 5.4 Pages)
Rate of Photosynthesis In this coursework, I intend to explain the variation (if any) that light intensity makes to the rate of photosynthesis in a green plant. To do this, I will be measuring the rate of photosynthesis of elodea, a Canadian water plant, under different levels of light intensity. P ...
