Scouts behavior around adults and other peers makes her seem a little older than she really is. The first day of school Scout doesn't think of herself as a little first grader but as a young adult. Scout doesn't mind standing up for what she believes in. When her cousin and her got in a fight and were unfairly punished Scouts makes a point to tell her uncle that the way he handles his children are wrong.

Another example of her use of exquisite vocabulary and courage is when she talks a mob out of killing Tom Robinson. She is only six at this time, but isn't scared and knows exactly what words to use. To Kill A Mockingbird would be totally different without Scout as the narrator. She just makes the story so full of life and you can understand every little situation. Atticus is Scout's father.
